Repeat Prescriptions

We are a fully dispensing practice and will provide you with any medicines necessary from the surgery.

If you take regular medication and order repeat prescriptions, please tick the items you require on your counterfoil and return it to us either:

  • On line using the link above
  • By post – please enclose a stamped addressed envelope and we will post the prescription back to you.
  • By calling at the surgery – we have a collection box to save you waiting if there is a queue.

Alternatively you can order online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple one-off registration.

For reasons of safety, we DO NOT accept requests over the telephone. Should you require medication urgently when the surgery is closed please contact Urgent Care 111 who will triage the call.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Due to staff shortages in the Dispensary we require THREE full working days for prescriptions to be processed (5 days if using the postal service) and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Prescription Fees

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.35
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104
  • 3-month PPC: £30.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

  • Telephone advice and order line 0845 850 0030
  • General Public – Buy or Renew a PPC On-line

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website

Repeat Requests

Please allow 72 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.

Out of hours cover

If you have a medical emergency when the surgery is closed or require medication urgently please ring 111 and your call will be transferred to the emergency doctor.

If you have difficulty in contacting a doctor in an emergency dial 999 for an ambulance.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an  emergency.
